MAFIA
Show Synopsis:
During a time of turmoil and suffering, six friends seek to find an escape by virtually playing the game of “Mafia” in a Zoom meeting with each other. However, what was all fun and games quickly becomes a reflection of their reality—one of complete physical and mental chaos. This play, performed all in Zoom, explores the struggles and hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic through a single game of Mafia. Will they be able to discover who is the Mafia? Or will their own anger and frustration be the cause of their own demise?

Rainier Dela Cruz is a freshman at DePaul, majoring in Film & Television. He started acting in theatre during his freshman year of high school and has been participating in the fall plays and spring musicals since then. He started writing for the stage towards the end of his senior year, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and he hopes to continue writing and performing at DePaul, whether it’s for the camera, the stage, or even both.

Bailey Broniewicz is a second year DePaul student majoring in Film and Television. Bailey has directed for both stage and screen, as well as acted for both. Some roles include Grandma Addams in The Addams Family, a Swing in Mary Poppins, and 25 in The Wolves. Her directing past allowed her SAD on God of Carnage, and direct/write two plays for the Argo Community High School Golden Fleece Play Festival, as well as her own short film Decisions of Decay. She enjoys being a part of the creative process and hopes the audience finds the show just as fun as she does! She would like to thank her sister Emily, her Mom, and Dad, as well as the cast and BDT board for all of the support.

Michelle Cerron is a sophomore at DePaul University majoring in Film and Television Production in Directing and a minor in Screenwriting. She is also a Production Director for Blue Demon Theatre. This is the first show she’s been able to be a part of in over a year, and is very excited to be getting back into Theatre and acting overall. She hopes that this will be the first of many theatre-making and production opportunities to come in the future.
